About Us

Kara the founder of Wicks Or Wax is a Mom of three (two girls and a boy), wife, photographer and candle maker.  She originally started the company as a hobby to provide her family and friends with clean burning candles and wax tarts that were, also, non-allergenic. It quickly became a passion to offer soy based candles that were free from carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and other potentially hazardous chemicals often found in fragrance. She spent months learning all about candles, and what is toxic/harmful to breathe to create the perfect candle with amazing custom scents. 

She started selling at local craft fairs to test the market which quickly flourished into a business instead of just a hobby. Quality is of the utmost important to Wicks Or Wax. No candle or wax tart leaves our shop if it’s not absolutely perfect. Products will be made and re-made if they aren’t up to our standards. 

Owning Wicks Or Wax, for Kara, quickly flourished into a drive and passion to show her three kids that you can do anything you put your mind to. Being able to see the joy on their faces, wanting to be involved with the process, is so exciting.  While they are, also, seeing that companies can be started from the ground up, with enough determination and hard work, you can achieve anything.
